The Confidence Guy

Wired into Truly Confident Living

Sep 07

So I’m back from Amsterdam and back at the blog after a month or so away it.  It’s been great to spend some time chilling out and getting healthier, and to be honest it’s taking me a little while to get back up to speed.  A couple of people have asked me why I keep writing for this blog at all considering that I’m ill, that I should cut down what I do and stop writing the blog.

I’ve thought about it.  I really have.  But I’d have to be pretty fucking ill for me to stop writing for this blog.  Pardon my French, but here are just a handful of reasons that I’m here:

Because I see people holding back and it breaks my heart a little bit.

Because too many people are pretending.

Because I love seeing people make decisions for the right reasons.

Because I love laughing with my clients.

Because the moment when someone truly sees how flippin’ great they are takes my breath away.

Because, by some happy accident, my method works and I get to make a difference.

Because I learn so much, all the time.

But in the end, there’s one reason above all the others that keeps me doing what I do.

Because it matters to me.

What matters to you that keeps you going no matter how tough things get?

Thank you for not stopping friend. Keep going because there are many people who are learning from your strength, courage and words of wisdom. We all thank you alike. I wish you peace, blessings and good health. Take care…

@Tony: That’s really kind of you and truly appreciated. I like to live up to the words you use, but don’t make the mistake of thinking I’m some kind of guru or that I’m not just as much a work in progress as the next guy!

I disagree. You MUST stop. You will never get ‘better’ if you keep limping along. It’s the very nature of people who keep pushing themselves that end up with CFS (Believe me I know – 11 years now). Take a break, for as long as it takes and you WILL reach ‘normal’. Maybe not the whirlwind of efficiency you once were but a richer, deeper you that experiences the moment and has more to give than you ever thought was possible. Ideal qualities for your particular trade. You already have a very special talent and it needs protecting not squandering. Lecture over!

@Angie: I do push myself, you’re right. But not nearly as much as I used to. I’ve slowed down a lot and taken a bunch of things off my list to free myself up. I’ve switched to working 4 days a week so that I have some focused down time and I’ll continue to pay serious attention to it, because it’s both real and serious. But at the same time I have to honour what matters to me. I really appreciate you looking out for me – let me know if I can help you out.

I was diagnosed with CFS in my twenties – really bad with it for four years until I decided it wasn’t going to rule my life – I was going to rule it. My rule is eat well, sleep well and live the life you want, if it wants to come along for the ride it can do! It may slow you down but it won’t stop you.

I’m quite a new reader to your blog and I’m glad to hear you’ll keep on posting, even though I’ve quite a chunk of it to get through yet :) Off to check out fear and doubt category!

@Strawberry Fields: “Eat well, sleep well and live the life you want”. That’s my approach too, although sometimes I slip! Good to have you here and grateful for your comment – just holler to let me know if there’s anything I can help with or if there’s something you’d love to see me cover here.

I don’t have CFS but my body and mind sure could do with eating better and getting more sleep.

Keep on doing what works for you and makes you happy…

@William: I guess it’s somewhat universal, right?! Appreciate the comment and make sure you do what works for you too.
