I recently published a Christmas story in my ezine that will warm the cockles of the coldest heart. It got a great response from readers.
One reader in particular got in touch with me (thanks again Colleen), letting me know that it was originally written in 1982 by a lady called Nancy Gavin, and was the first place winner out of thousands of entries in Woman’s Day magazine’s “My Most Moving Holiday Tradition” contest, in which readers were asked to share their favorite holiday tradition and the story behind it.
Even if Christmas isn’t your holiday of choice this story is something really special – but even more special was the link that Colleen also sent through to me — a link to the website of the White Envelope Project.
Continuing the theme of giving that I’ve been talking about recently, this is just stunning. From the original tradition of the Gavin family, something truly amazing happened.
I urge you to read the original story here, and find out more about the simply brilliant White Envelope Project.
PS: As it’s Christmas Day, I want to share something else with you. This is from Karen Jacobsen, a woman I worked with a little while ago who I’m now privileged to call a friend. It’s really magical — enjoy.
Have a Merry Christmas, and if you can’t have a Merry one, have a peaceful one.
